We see what is happening across America, with the Police Brutality and the effects of systemic racism and inequality in the Black community, and even most recently our Black Trans Brothers & Sisters. Such oppression is more than heartbreaking it is absolutely devastating to the lives of so many people in our community. We can no longer simply offer, “I am sorry”; or, sit in silence in fear of saying or doing the wrong thing.

After viewing photos from events being held both here locally and around the world, we listened to what our Black community members were asking from their allies.

We went to work immediately looking into the appropriate resources regarding this fight and what needs to happen for the Justice, Love and Protection for ALL People of Color.

June 1st, the start of Pride Month was an eerie feeling across America. We would not even be here if it was not for our Trans Women of Color who started the Stonewall riot as a challenge to the corrupt system of Police Brutality in 1969.

The Derby City Bears will always stand with you in this fight for Black Lives Matter

and against Racial Injustice wherever we see it!

All Donations & Proceeds collected this Pride Month will be donated to this cause through one of the sites listed below!

BlackLivesMatterLouisville: Black Lives Matter Louisville - Home  Ways To Help

The mission of the Derby City Bears is to create All-Inclusive events throughout our LGBTQ+ footprint in Louisville, Southern Indiana, and surrounding areas.

These events are designed to make Safe Spaces available to all members of our community; and, we do this while having a great time, and raising money for Local Causes, other Non-Profit Organizations, and our very own DCB Scholarship Fund.

We have taken the time this year to refocus on how we can be better at supporting and representing our community and the members

  • By showing more transparency on the meaning of “All-Inclusive”

  • By holding new events catering to a broader spectrum of our community to include Sober Spaces and Art Appreciation

  • By modifying our By-Laws to show we stand for and with all members of our community with respect to age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law

  • By addressing the the toxic masculine narrative that has been on-going for far too long in the Bear Community at-large

Sending the biggest BEAR HUGS,
